Touching the Future: Haptic Events Around the World
The world of haptics moves at lightning speed—new breakthroughs, innovative products, cutting-edge research, and new use cases are emerging daily from labs and startups across the globe. As this momentum builds, conferences and events serve as vital hubs where haptics pioneers, experts, students, and enthusiasts converge to shape the future of touch technology.
Whether you’re looking to stay ahead of the curve or connect with leaders in the field, these top haptics events around the world are where innovation comes to life.
1. IEEE World Haptics Conference 2025, Suwon, South Korea.
As one of the longest-running haptics events in the world (since 1992), IEEE brings together more than 600 exhibitors from 20+ countries to share the latest advancements in haptic research and technology. Usually hosted in the US, this year’s event takes us to South Korea, a global hub for the IT industry and home to manufacturers in a range of industries.
The 2025 dates for this biennial show are July 8–11. Expect notable speakers, demonstrations, workshops, tutorials, an awards ceremony, and unparalleled opportunities to network with haptics peers from all over the world.
2. Eurohaptics Conference
The Eurohaptics Conference takes place in even years. In odd years, it partners with IEEE World Haptics. The 2026 conference has not yet been scheduled with set dates or a location. The 2024 conference featured several unique events, including job dating sessions, a dedicated art and design segment, and fascinating forays into robot-human interactions and the role of AI in haptic engineering. Eurohaptics typically attracts more than 400 in-person attendees with additional opportunities to join virtually.
3. ACM CHI Conference
The Association for Computing Machinery Conference on Human Factors in Computing (CHI) Systems was launched in 1982 and has been held annually since 1985. The 2025 conference was held in Yokohama, Japan. While not solely focused on haptics, the show typically features a broad spectrum of demonstrations, presentations, workshops, papers, and late-breaking work in haptics technology, including thought leadership in future haptics applications from some of the brightest minds in the field. As always, the interactive exhibits are the most exciting as they provide attendees with the opportunity to experience the latest developments and get a feel for what’s to come in the field of human-computer interaction.
4. International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA)
ICRA is an annual conference dedicated to robotics and automation, featuring many notable sessions and keynotes on haptic applications in human-robot interaction and innovative haptic interfaces for robot control. ICRA is a five-day event drawing more than 7,000 attendees and is considered the world’s most important conference in the field. In 2025, the show had more than 4,250 paper submissions and 143 exhibitors from the world’s leading robotics organizations. The 2026 edition will be held in Vienna, Austria, from June 1 to 5.
5. International Conference on Haptics and Virtual Reality (ICHVR)
ICHVR is a relatively new conference, having been established for only two years. Though 2025 dates have not yet been announced, past locations have been Budapest, Hungary, in 2023 and Barcelona, Spain, in 2024. The conference is also accessible virtually. Keep an eye on their website for 2025 announcements.
6. International Conference on Human-Computer Theory and Applications (HUCAPP)
HUCAPP is in its 10th year and will take place in February 2026; however, no precise dates or locations have been announced yet. The conference aims to be a point of contact between researchers, engineers, and practitioners in human-computer interaction, exploring both practical and theoretical multimodal applications. The haptic aspect of the 2025 conference featured haptic and multimodal systems and simulations, haptic interfaces, cognition and perception, and input/output modalities. Expect workshops, tutorials, demonstrations, panels, and many luminary keynote speakers on the cutting edge of advancements in the field.
Hands-On Horizons
Each event on the list, whether flagship conferences or newer forums, provide a snapshot of where touch technology is headed. As the global haptics community grows, fresh ideas emerge, paving the way for continued innovation in haptics. Whether you’re a researcher, developer, engineer, investor, or just curious, these events are the starting point for tomorrow’s most meaningful breakthroughs.
